Got up at 7, spent an hour studying Rudin. Didn't learn much other than some stuff about matrix norms and continuity of linear operators (and the fact that I'm bad at inequalities!)
Spent an hour reading random alignment stuff, Signed up for the fundementals in AI safety course.
Spent 3 hours writing a short LessWrong post. My social anxiety caused me to edit it way too much. The results have been amazing though, it was promoted to the frontpage and I got replies from legends like johnswentworth (to the uninitiated, this would be like saying I'm going to play tennis then getting advice from Roger Federer).
Also got replies telling me to apply to the atlas fellowship which I did (this is the last possible day!). I don't expect to be one of the 100 fellows, but I think I have good chances at being a finalist. I don't care about the money though, just being connected with amazing people (which my post has helped a lot with already!)
Spent 30m reading elutherai chat (kinda wasted), spent 1h 40m reading "Data Intensive Applications", good book but didn't feel like I was learning much. When I stopped I spent 2h applying to the atlas fellowship (wayy too nervous lol)
Spent 1h 30m reading the advice johnswentworth linked me, specifically his Study guide is fantastic. He makes "Become acquainted with every art" seem obvious. I'm going to spend a lot of time studying physics/diffeq/etc now.
Now I've journaled, and I'm going to bed (It's 9:30pm). I'm excited to get started studying all this stuff, I need to become stronger.
