Good day productivity wise, had trouble falling asleep last night, fell asleep at around 12:30.
- Spent 2h 40m Reviewing chapter 1 functional analysis.
- Spent 3h Learning physics on brilliant. Improved a bit but not as much as I'd like given the time. I need to be more efficient
- Spent 1h 30m reading Jaynes chapter 10. SOO cool, I finally understand the "Law of large numbers" and what assumptions it makes, i.e. that it isn't really a "law". also Jaynes talks about Quantum mechanics and the bashes the physical interpretation of probability a bunch
- Spent 45m figuring out the error I made reading this mathworld article. basically, they assume the particle starts at while I assume it starts at .
- Spent 1h watching the Connor Leahy talk on alignment (see below)
Interesting finds
- Watched a great lecture by Connor Leahy on Promising Paths to Alignment.
- Heard of "Shard theory" by TurnTrout on the EleutherAI discord. Looks interesting, I'll look into it soon
- Found a funny Reddit thread on bad philosophy
Things I did badly
- Spent 2h watching YouTube while eating. Watched two podcast episodes. Learned some stuff about the economy and roe vs wade, but could have spent my time better reading.
- Too long doing single things. I think I was fairly focused, but spending all day on a few things is a bad idea.
- Didn't code up the Brachistochrone simulator and solver. I'll do it earlier tomorrow
- Didn't review the pull requests on my github repo, will do that tomorrow
- Stayed on computer too late chatting on discord. Should get off at 8pm and read (didn't read anything today other than math stuff, heck)
